Message from "SAG-AFTRA Nevada Local"

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS FROM NATIONAL STAFF AND NOT REVIEWED OR AUTHORIZED BY MYSELF OR ANY MEMBER OF THE NATIONAL BOARD. MEMBERS OF THE NATIONAL COMMITTEE OF LOCALS BOARD OBJECT TO THE STAFF CHANGES AND REORGANIZATION. I have been informed it was reviewed and approved by Nevada President Barbara Grant. I do not agree with the statements in this notice, as we have had remote administration in the past and it was a failed experiment. I also do not feel any distance administration will replace local executive Steve Clinton or a Nevada office.

Important Information for Nevada Local Members

Dear Member,

As you may have read in the recent SAG-AFTRA magazine, the union is undergoing a strategic restructuring process that will result in the closure of some physical offices.  The Nevada Local will be affected.  As of May 31, 2013, the Nevada SAG-AFTRA office will close and core member services and support will be provided by the Los Angeles Local.

It is important to note that the National Board of SAG-AFTRA has not eliminated any Locals or their Local Boards.  SAG-AFTRA continues to have 25 geographic locals.  Your Nevada Local will continue to represent you and all of its Local members and remains a vital part of our union’s governance.

SAG-AFTRA’s responsibility to protect all its members has not changed, nor have the requirements of membership.  We will continue to enforce the protections spelled out in our contracts, across the country and the world.

A detailed Contact Information Sheet listing your member service representatives in the Los Angeles Local office can be found by clicking here.  You will find specific staff contacts for each contract and core service category.  Don’t hesitate to pick up the phone or send them an e-mail with your questions and concerns.

It is also important to know that across the country, SAG-AFTRA’s professional staff is being refocused on vital member service and support.  As part of the restructuring process, the union is committed to continuing and improving those core services. This is the beginning of that process and we will need to hear from you as the restructuring moves forward and you begin to work with your member service representatives in Los Angeles.

If you have any questions about the Contact Information and ongoing support for your Local, please contact your Local Administrative Staff team member listed at the bottom of the Contact Information sheet.

Thank you.

SAG-AFTRA Nevada Local
