The worldwide sensation MAMMA MIA! will play The Smith Center Jan. 7-12, 2014, and the electrifying FLASHDANCE-THE MUSICAL will take the stage Jan. 28 – Feb. 2, 2014.

Inspired by the storytelling magic of ABBA’s songs from “Dancing Queen” and “S.O.S.” to “Money, Money, Money” and “Take a Chance on Me,” MAMMA MIA! is a feel-good production celebrating family and friendship. Donna, a single mother who owns a small hotel on an tranquil Greek island, is about to let go of Sophie, the lively daughter she has single-handedly raised. As Sophie’s wedding approaches, Donna invites her two lifelong friends – the practical Rosie and wealthy Tanya - from her one-time backing band, Donna and the Dynamos, to assist with the preparations. On a quest to find the identity of her father before her wedding day, Sophie brings back three men from Donna's past to the Mediterranean paradise they visited 20 years earlier. In a period of 24 chaotic hours, new love will bloom and old romances will be rekindled on the island full of possibilities.

With high-energy dance at its core, FLASHDANCE-THE MUSICAL tells the inspiring and unforgettable story of Alex Owens, a Pittsburgh steel mill welder by day and a bar dancer by night with dreams of one day becoming a professional performer. When romance with her steel mill boss threatens to complicate her ambitions, Alex learns the meaning of love and its power to fuel the pursuit of her dream. FLASHDANCE–THE MUSICAL features a score of hit songs from the film, including the Academy Award-winning title song “Flashdance – What a Feeling,” “Maniac,” “Gloria,” “Manhunt,” and “I Love Rock & Roll.”
